Migrating UNIX Applications To Windows NT
Many organizations are porting legacy mission critical UNIX applications to Windows NT.
Several third-party vendors offer porting and development toolkits to facilitate the migration.
Application porting time is dependent on the application: a well behaved X client can usually be ported in one day.
UNIX applications that are platform specific (HP, IBM, SUN, DEC, SGI) or involved inter-client communications can significantly complicate the porting process.
Most porting and development tools support Microsoft WIN32 SDK, or Visual C/++compiler, Borland and the Watcom C compiler environment.
