• HP-UX

  • Filesystem/RAW backups do not over-utilize CPU
  • Oracle7 with EBU (Oracle Enterprise Backup Utility) on an HP T520 (8-way) resulted in ~100 MB/s (caused by CPU)
  • SAP online backup does filesystem/raw backup only

• Windows NT

  • NTFS uses a lot of CPU
  • Network handling on multi processor machines might be an issue
