A Long, Long Time Ago (Part 3)

by Russell Bird

Emirikol the Chaotic scanned the horizon with his macrobinoculars. From the north, a swiftly moving skiff approached. He passed the binoculars to his aid. Joofus was a skilled motivator for a Rodian gunman, which was good for what needed to be done.

"Will you be retiring now, my Master?" Joofus asked.

"I will, as I have much study to attend. See that the new recruits are briefed. We will need to be leaving for the Core System in the next few days."

"As you wish, my lord." Joofus said with a flourish, before leaving for the skiff pool.

Emirikol could hardly control his impatience. The Sith texts that he had retrieved were almost alive with an unusual magic that he alone could harness. The texts foretold the prophecy of rival practitioners who would be scheming from the Core Worlds, but Emirikol had other plans. The Hutts were the real power brokers in this universe. By conquering their crime cartels, he would have legions of followers and with the power of the Sith he could ascend to godhood... and it was all thanks to Murlynd. Their paths had crossed briefly in Limbo. Sensing Murlynd's power, it was but a simple matter for Emirikol to emulate his powers of travel and follow him to this "galaxy"...

... thanks to his inginuity, he had an advantage that Murlynd did not - he was able to retain his spellcasting ability in this universe. Emirikol knew that Murlynd was a spellcaster who was almost as powerful as he was, now Murlynd had only a few minor force powers to play with. Force powers and the limitations of the Jedi code. Yet Murlynd was clever and not to be underestimated. Emrikol knew he had to operate quickly before the Jedi Master tracked him down. In the meantime, he had already set another plan into action to ensure his sucess. Perhaps the hunter could become the hunted?

If only the secrets of the Sith were easier to absorb quickly. If only...

Emirikol retired into solitude to study the Sith Holocron. Behind him, the sun of Asthras was setting.

To be continued.
