D4-HSU trotted out of the Jesgage residential structure at the sound of the turmoil. As a protocol droid, he was proficient with many millions of forms of communication, including the distress calls of servo-motors and other mechanical devices in peril. On entering the courtyard, he came across an armoured human. The human wielded a bowcaster rifle and seemed to be using the power droids as target practice. The stumpy droids were unable to outrun the deadly aim of the human.
"Begging your pardon sir, I must ask you to stop what you are doing as this is private property."
The human spun and aimed the bowcaster directly at D4-HSU, who flinched so much that he nearly fell over backward. The human tilted the bowcaster toward the sky, and looked at the startled protocol droid for many moments. Without warning, the human began to advance on D4-HSU. The droid began to shake as the bowcaster was lowered and the human drew a lightsaber handle from his belt.
"A Jedi Protector! I address you with the deserving respect, most noble protector, and invite you in for refreshments as is..." D4-HSU was unable to continue, as he was forced roughly up against the wall.
"Who said I was a Jedi?" said the human with a grin. Unable to move, D4-HSU watched as the human fitted him with a restraining bolt. "Now, who is your master?"
"I serve mistress Neomi Jesgage."
"She recieved a visit from a Jedi Master yesterday, and she has left with him. Where are they now?"
"You are mistaken sir! My mistress has departed briefly on a supply run to Pilot's Rest."
The human looked stern for a moment, then grabbed at the restraining bolt, twisting it roughly. "You are not permitted to lie to me! Now answer my question!"
"She departed with the Jedi Master yesterday to the south. Tey are searching for a nameless Lord. Mistress Jesgage has helped him to narrow his search to the Reef Desert region." D4-HSU replied with a slight quiver. The human had turned his back to him. "Sir, if you'll not be needing me..."
"You are right, I have no need for a protocol droid..." the human replied, and spun around. D4-HSU had enough time to see a violet stream of light spring forth from the lightsaber handle... enough time before the human to cut him in half.
To be continued.
