Synchronous Transaction Processing
- The user always uses the actual data
- Only one instance of the data record exists
- A two-phase commit assures that either both of the record changes are executed
- Logical Table Linking

- Data models need to be the same
- Not possible to link certain rows or columns of a table
- Users share the whole table
- Be aware of the expected size of the table
- Performance is affected by the size of the table and the number of companies involved
- Deleting actions can take a very long time
- Queries are more time consuming
- Be aware of the number of users
- Records might be locked within updating sessions if two users are trying to access the same record
- Linked tables need not be on the same physical location. The B-shell will direct the data to the right database
- Linking over a WAN is discouraged
- Modules or tables may be linked
