A Long, Long Time Ago (Part 8)

by Russell Bird

Less than a day now, Emirikol thought... less than a day until his plans reached fruition. His plans for ascension had been years in the coming, and now he had finally found a means of achieving his goal, here in this galaxy... in this "alternate" universe. What other universes existed that could be conquered?

He looked down into the yard of the pumping station at the troops of mercenaries, ex-soldiers, ace pilots and even a few force adepts who now worked for him. They worked willingly for him and he did not even have to expend any spells or charms to do it! They shared his vision... the limits of his vision that he felt worth sharing. Soon he would be on his way to Coruscant, by way of Tatooine where he intended to march in and assassinate Jabba the Hutt. He was convinced that the Hutt's toadies would then fall in with him. The Sith Holocron had said so, but he believed it anyway. With an invincible army, he would then march on Coruscant and expose the pretenders that would be found there. The Holocron would lead him straight to them.

As the troop carriers and skiffs were loaded on board the stolen star cruiser, Emirikol heard the approach of Joofus. "My Lord... message for you."

Emirikol took the holo-communicator. A small image of an armoured human appeared upon its flat surface. "What have you to report Tynarva?" Emirikol asked.

"Murlynd is on his way and I am closing in on him. I expect to intercept him before he reaches the Station," the image replied.

"In that regard you have an advantage. Keep in touch, and remember... you will recieve your reward for delivering your target dead or alive. Dead will do just fine..."

"Just have the credits ready. I think I will be able to catch up with him by nightfall."

"Good. Emrirkol out."

Emirikol handed the communicator back to Joofus, who scurried off to complete his duties. Relieved at one less distraction, Emirikol returned to his ruminations. Less than a day now....

To be continued.
