~ Candidates for OpenMPE Board of Directors ~

All candidates were invited to submit a picture and short biography or statement by the closing date. The candidates for the five (5) OpenMPE Board of Directors seats that are up for election are listed below in alphabetical order.

   Jack Connor

My introduction to the 3000 was in 1974 with the CX (#27, I believe) at Sangamon State University where we developed the SSLC-based UT200 emulator and converted a batch IBM student system to a hybrid on-line system.

I joined HP as a systems engineer/systems specialist in performance, networking, and networking performance in 1978. During that time I was privileged to meet and work with MPE legends (at least to me) such as Fred White, Ted Workman, Len Crowley, Gerry Wade, Gerry Crawford, Paul Primmer, and many others.

In 1983 I founded InfoWorks, Inc and developed OmniSpooler, InfoNet, and OmniMonitor. After merging with Carolian in 1987 and spending a year as the COO for Carolian US, I resumed consulting and project management with InfoWorks.

Most recent HP3000 contributions have been managing the HP MPE Tier 2 Reactive support team for HP's internal systems; since 2004, I have been the MPE Practice Manager for Abtech Support Services.

As InfoWorks, I'm still pursuing some projects, such as how to modify the network spooler to support the new HP laser printers.

My sense of duty compels my desire to continue to serve the HP3000 community on the OpenMPE Board. As the Board's Secretary, the continuation of my service to OpenMPE and the Board is vital to current projects.

   Matt Perdue

I have been an active but at most times quiet member of the HP3000 community since 1975 and have a solid belief in the reliability the HP3000/MPE platform for the future. My first exposure to the 3000 was at an HP regional office, 2 Choke Cherry Rd, Rockville Md. in 1975. I have worked almost my entire working life on the 3000 (other platforms too) and am completely committed to the continuation of MPE after HP leaves the marketplace. I believe my best contribution to MPE will be as an advocate traveling to various customers helping them to see the solid business case for their continued use and support of MPE and for OpenMPE to become the support organization for MPE post-HP. OpenMPE needs someone to wear out the shoe leather and sell MPE/OpenMPE as a viable and lower cost alternative to migration, or as an insurance policy to extend the project timelines of those unable to migrate before the end of 2006. Since I telecommute 100% I will commit myself with the assistance of OpenMPE to making the business case for the continued support of MPE and OpenMPE into the future. HP needs to see this year that OpenMPE can operate as a viable business with the support of the community. With that support we can show HP that MPE will be in good hands when HP leaves the market and for many years ahead.

   Cornelia Sellitto ("Connie")

I have a commitment to the HP3000 and its continued successful use as a valuable business system. I am an active listener on the HP3000 List, as well as a sometimes poster.

I've been a programmer since 1972 (COBOL, Assembler, Basic, RPG, C) on Burroughs, IBM and NCR. I have worked exclusively with the HP3000 since 1987, as Programmer/Analyst and IT Manager at the Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc. in Manasquan, New Jersey.

CFA is currently homesteading with no immediate plans to migrate, although we continue to explore alternatives. Our HP3000 A400 interfaces with a network of Mac and PC servers to provide web access to a variety of online services for our customers.

I understand legal issues; my husband is an attorney, I help run a jury focus group, and I have an AS in Computer Science and an AA in Business Administration. I believe the goals of OpenMPE are valid and attainable, and ask that all MPE users: past, present and future, support this organization.

Keith Wadsworth is President/CEO and owner of ORBiT Software Group, Inc. and ORBiT Software UK limited. ORBiT Software is also an equity partner in Resource3000. ORBiT Software is synonymous with BACKUP+/iX and continues to support a large client base on MPE, and we continue to welcome new customers. As ORBiT is fully committed to supporting our customers beyond 2010 we have a very sincere interest for the future of and the usage of the MPE source code. It is in the continued interest and support of our MPE customers that I volunteer my services and support to the Open MPE Board of Directors.
